Public Holidays in Bulgaria

Public holidays in Bulgaria are regulated by the Bulgarian Labour Code.

  • Public holidays that take place on a weekend are not carried over to the following Monday
  • Since 2007 Bulgaria has official "bridge holidays". When a public holiday takes place on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, the Monday, Tuesday or Friday is sometimes taken as an official holiday to make a long weekend; working Saturdays are imposed to make up for the extra day's holiday. These public holidays also apply to schools.
